BIRNIN KEBBI – The Kebbi State Government spent N550 million to construct barracks for the police and army as part of efforts to strengthen security along border settlements in Bagudo Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Bello Tuga, disclosed this to newsmen on Friday in Birnin Kebbi.
Tuga said the barracks which are in different stages of completion would be handed over to the Federal Government when completed later in the year.
He said that the barracks were to provide accommodation for security personnel serving in border communities in the areas.
Tuga said the barracks would be equipped with facilities, including administrative blocks, staff quarters, towers, generators and security guard houses.
He named other facilities to include parking lots, access roads, boreholes and electric power supply.
He said that the facilities were aimed at enhancing social and economic activities in border settlements and to curtail incessant clashes among the people. (NAN)
