LAGOS – The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), on Monday in Lagos restated its commitment to enhancing the distribution of petroleum products across the country.
The National President of the association, Mr Chinedu Okoronkwo, gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Okoronkwo said that the association’s determination to strengthen the petroleum products distribution process stemmed from the new technology introduced by Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) in the 21 oil depots across the country.
According to him, the new automated method of loading products has made the distribution of the products more convenient and cost effective for members.
“IPMAN at all levels commends the unprecedented stability and growth in the petroleum sector since the current leadership in the petroleum ministry took over the mantle.
“Our members now load products from all depots across the country with ease, courtesy of the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke and PPMC.
“There has been stability in petroleum products’ supply to the depots,” he said.
Okoronkwo assured that IPMAN would continue to partner PPMC in the 21 depots to ensure seamless product supply to every part of the country.
“IPMAN controls over 85 per cent of Nigeria’s petroleum product retailing business and this makes our association a dominant player in the downstream market,” he stated.
He commended the petroleum minister for the stability in petroleum products’ supply process, adding that the unveiling of the Nigerian Content Act was a major vehicle for building indigenous capacities for the nation’s oil and gas industry.
According to him, the effort is an incentive to guarantee adequate supply of electricity in the country.
Okoronkwo condemned the activities of the pipeline vandals and crude oil thieves, stressing that the vices were the greatest challenge to optimal output from the nation’s refineries. (NAN)
