Lagos -A teenage boy, Dayo Kolawole, who allegedly scaled the fence of a church in Lagos to steal, was on Tuesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, 17, whose address was not provided, was charged with entering a worship centre unlawfully to commit felony.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Eruada Victor, told the court that the accused had on June 5 at No.18, Ezekiel Olubi St., Ejigbo, a Lagos suburb, broken into the premises of Ascension Anglican Church.
“The accused scaled the fence to gain entry into the church with the intent to commit felony.’’
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 404 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that under the section, the accused may be sentenced to seven years as punishment for attempts to commit felonies.
The accused pleaded innocence of the offence.
The Magistrate, Mr F. A. Azeez, granted the accused a bail of N50,000 with one surety and adjourned the case to June 29 for mention. (NAN)
