Minna – The Medical Community Development Service (CDS) group of Corps members in Chanchaga, Minna on Friday provided free HIV and diabetes screening to over 200 people in Paiko Local Government Area of the state.
Dr Wale Ogunlana, the President of the group, who was speaking during the medical outreach tagged: “My health, my wealth’’, noted that the medical CDS was tasked with the burden of ensuring optimal state of health for host communities.
“We are a group saddled with the responsibility of ensuring optimal state of health for host communities through medical consultation, interventions, education and outreaches.
“We are carrying out blood pressure check, anti-retroviral screening for HIV and blood sugar among and they will be treated.
“A team is already going round to educate people on the need to come out for these screening and as you can see people are trooping out in their numbers.
“With the calibre of professionals here, I can say Nigeria has great hope. This programme is a true demonstration of such hope, as we have been a bridge connecting the grassroots community and meeting their health needs,” he said.
Also speaking, the Local Government Inspector for Chanchaga, Miss Jane Echeanyanwu, tasked the Corps members to carry on the scheme’s core objective of selfless service to the nation and humanity.
One of the beneficiaries, Hajiya Habiba Imam, said that the intervention of the Corps members could not have come at a better time, adding that they brought hope to her and others.
NAN reports that the medical CDS group comprises medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, medical laboratory scientists, optometrists among others.
