Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Despite the extended dusk to dawn curfew (6pm- 6am) imposed by the Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, the tension in Aba, the state’s commercial hub has exacerbated.
Reports from the Enyimba City have it that the Ariaria International Market Police Station was on Wednesday night set ablaze by unknown persons.
Residents of Aba said that there were serious gun shots all through the night around Uratta –Port Harcourt road.
Since the mass movement into the state on Sunday by the Operation Python Dance II , purportedly in a bid to apprehend the separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu, the otherwise peaceful state capital, Umuahia and its commercial hub, Aba have witnessed civil unrest.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) campaigning to restore the short-lived Republic of Biafra.
The Nigerian Army has since denied that the troops are in Umuahia to apprehend Kanu but the denial has not helped to douse the tension.
