ABUJA – Former President of Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Dr Lugard Aimiuwu, on Saturday advised Nigerians to support leaders to ensure the development of the country.
Aimiiuwu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that meaningful development could only be achieved if the citizenry complemented the efforts of political leaders.
He, however, advised political leaders to create clear vision that could inspire the citizens to support government’s policies.
“Development is a collective responsibility and the role of leadership has to be effectively complemented by that of the citizenry for the country to realise its potentials.
“The president cannot perform miracles but we expect him to present a clear vision that can excite the citizenry to buy into government policies.[eap_ad_1] “Such a vision would make citizens determine to bear the harshness of the time with hope for the future because leadership without vision is a tragedy waiting to happen’’, he said.
He advised the populace to imbibe values that could attract respect for Nigeria within the comity of nations.
“Everybody must play a role to manage our diversity creatively so that we can emerge a stronger and more united country.
“We should orientate ourselves towards increasing values and strive to make Nigeria a valuable country’’, he said.
Aimiuwu advised government to place emphasis on youth development as they are the future and the strength needed.
“Their perception of life is different as a result of the effect of globalisation and we need to create a solid foundation for them’’, he said. (NAN)
