President Muhammadu Buhari got two titles hours after he arrived in Ebonyi state on a two-day working visit to the southeast part of Nigeria.
Buhari was conferred with the titles of Enyioma 1 of Ebonyi and Ochioha Ndi Igbo 1 by the traditional rulers in the presence of the governors from the region and top politicians. While Enyioma is said to mean ‘a good friend’, Ochioha Ndi Igbo means ‘the leader of all the Igbo people’.
As part of the new titles, the president got a red cap as he laughed cheerfully all through the process.
It was earlier reported that as he had promised late Monday, November 13, President Muhammadu Buhari arrived Ebonyi state safely in the morning of Tuesday, November 14, and was received by Governor Dave Umahi and his colleagues from the southeast.
Buhari landed at the Nkwoagu Military Cantonment, Abakaliki, but did not inspect the Guard of Honour mounted in his honour by soldiers. The president also commissioned the 700m length of the Dr Akanu Ibiam Twin Flyover Bridges over the African Trans-Sahara route running from Enugu to Cameroon.
The president commissioned the project on Tuesday, November 14, during his visit to Ebonyi state. Speaking as he performed his official duties in the state, President Buhari reiterated his belief in the unity of the country.
‘My presence here today is a demonstration of my strong believe in the unity of Nigeria. ”As a most populous country in Africa with over 300 ethnic groups our diversity is almost unique among the nations.,” he said in Abakaliki. Naij.com
