ABUJA (Sundiata Post) The weakest part of our being is the MIND. Bombard the auditory and visual nerves with SAME message and CONSISTENTLY and you gaol the MIND.
Ironically, this message does NOT have to be correct or true in content and delivery, but just drive it home with so much belligerence!
This was the case in 2014 and 2015. Those giddy days when truth and reason took flight. When Buhari was dressed not just in borrowed garbs but also in toga of lies. The tragedy was that those who should interrogate some claims were so sucked in so much that caution became like a match box near a gas station.
However, since a 1992 Camry was once a latest brand, the real man manifested and our land is the worst for it. Check these:
* No responsible leader in a pluralistic society like ours would appoint virtually ALL heads of security agencies from same area. It is simply suicidal. Like someone said, they could do away with our luxury of the English language during meetings. Hausa will become a handy and convenient ligua franca.
* No good leader will not spare a thought for his own people who are dying of cancer but greet outsiders who complain of headache.
While many would slink into the escapist argument of Jonathan-was-not-an-option, the greater and more poignant fact is that while we politically lynched GEJ, Buhari should NEVER have come to superintend over a 2018 Nigeria when Emmanuel Macron is taking France into the space in terms of human engagement and development. What debate is Buhari moderating here? Issues that are no longer on the agenda of even some African countries.
We are still at the base level in terms of inter-religious and inter-tribal engagement with an shamelessly biased president moderating the engagement.
And for a president claiming to be fighting corruption hosting a man who, on that same week, EFCC claimed the star witness against him had disappeared, there is no lower to sink again.
Except in the estimation of the remnants of his enslaved followers who keep lowering the standard everyday.
They are covering the wounds unsuccessfully. But even if they heal, we will forever have the scars reminding us of a time when we lent out our brains and reasoned through our anuses.
