Lagos – The Nigerian Military and other Para-military Officers in Lagos on Thursday studied new approach to solving insecurity in the country in the just concluded four day operational planning cadre training.
The General Officer Commanding(GOC), 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Enobong Udoh, who expressed satisfaction on the training, tasked the officers to use this approach to solving security challenges within their Area of Responsibility (AOR).
Udoh, who was the Special Guest of Honour, tasked the officers during the conclusion of the four day training on operation planning cadre at the 81 Division Officers Mess in Lagos, for the officers.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that officers from the Nigerian Prisons, Police, Customs, Fire Service and the military were present for the training.
NAN also reports that the “Operations Planning Cadre’’ training is aimed at sharpening the skills of officers.
The operation planning cadre is tailored to focus on the “Maneuverist” approach to warfare, estimate process as well as military operations other than war.
The theme of the year’s operational planning cadre is “Articulating the Roles of Commanders and Staff Officers in Planning Military Operations Other Than War”.
Udoh, who said he had no doubt that the training would impact positively on the officers, urged them to utilise what was learnt into managing emerging security challenges within their AOR.
“I expect to see a remarkable improvement in your approach to operational planning and management of the emerging security challenges in 81 Division AOR, which covers Lagos and Ogun states.
“It is also my expectation that the lessons learnt during the course would be put to good use for the overall benefit of your respective services and agencies.
“I must admit that the objectives of the cadre, which is to revise and update participants in operational planning procedure has been realised.
“I have no doubt that the series of presentation and interactive sessions during the cadre have greatly enriched your knowledge,” he said.
He, therefore, advised the officers to take back what they have learnt to their various formations, agencies and parastatals and the invaluable knowledge gained during the cadre.
NAN reports that the training, which was flagged-off on June 25 by the GOC had over 200 military and para-military officers in attendance.
