Sokoto, – A Sokoto Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday sentenced four traders to seven months imprisonment for stealing property valued at N996, 000.
The Chief Magistrate, Malam Abubakar Adamu, sentenced Jibrin Manir, 19, Innocent Sunday, 20, Victor Monday, 19 and Sirajo Lawal, 25, without an option of fine.
The convicts, who reside at Sokoto North metropolis, had pleaded guilty to a four-count charge of criminal conspiracy, shop breaking, receiving stolen property and theft.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Abdullahi Abubakar, had told the court that the accused intentionally broke into the shop of one Nuraddeen Isiyaka located at Illela Garage, Sokoto.
Abubakar said that the accused persons stole oil pumps, radiator, key starters, top cylinders, compressors, half engines all valued at N996, 000.
The prosecutor said that Isiyaka reported the case on Oct. 30, at Civil Defence office, Sokoto North Division, Sokoto.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 97, 358 and 288, 317 of the Penal Code.
