Onwubiko said: “Government’s decision to reduce petrol pump price is a welcome development.
“All relevant agencies in the petroleum industry should embark on massive clamp down of fuel dealers who fail to comply with the directive.’’
He urged eradication of corruption in the petroleum industry to make any reduction in petrol pump price meaningful.
The HURIWA coordinator said that the impact of the reduction might not be felt unless domestic refining of petroleum products resumed fully.
He urged the Federal Government to prosecute all those indicted in fuel subsidy fraud.
“All the stolen public money in the hands of this cabal should be collected back by the government,’’ Onwubiko said.
On the forthcoming general elections, he appealed to politicians to play according to rules.
Onwubiko called on politicians to stop the use of abusive words on one another.
He said that inflammatory words could heat up the polity. (NAN)
