NAIROBI – A suspect of Somali origin, who was arrested while trying to ferry explosives to Nairobi, was charged in a Kenyan High Court with eight counts of terrorism and unlawful presence in Kenya.
A prosecutor told the court on Wednesday in Nairobi, that Ahmed-Aliads Arab, who was arrested in Thika area was in possession of an explosive substance, namely RDX, weighing approximately 614 grammes.

The prosecutor said the suspect planned to commit an act intended to cause grievous harm in Kenya.
The prosecutor alleged that Arab, on Nov. 22, 2014 by false pretense, procured registration as a Kenyan citizen. He said he was issued with a Kenyan identity card at the national registration bureau office in Habaswein within Wajir County.
Appearing before Magistrate Annah Ndungu, Arab pleaded to be released on bail. His application was rejected on grounds that his nationality was in doubt.
The court ruled that that the suspect should remain in custody until April 20 for the hearing of the case. (Xinhua/NAN)
