LAGOS – Olawale Isiaka, the Captain of Nigeria Sand Super Eagles, on Wednesday, said he was optimistic that his team would emerge victorious at the ongoing 2015 CAF Beach Soccer Championship in Seychelles.
Olawale said this in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shortly after the team defeated host country, Seychelles 10-1 at the the opening match on Tuesday.
He also expressed the hope that the team would qualify for the 2016 World Cup in Portugal.
“You know with the caliber of the players we have and with the spirit in the camp and then with God on our side; at least we will try as much as possible for the team to qualify for the World Cup.

“And we need you peoples prayer too, you people should pray, we really prepare very well and then it doesn’t mean maybe because we won a game today.
“If you look at the people we played today, at least, let me say they are just a new team in this competition and then being the hosting team, at least they are just trying to come up as a team.
“They are very weak side at the same time, at least to make sure that we utilise all our advantage we have on them, that is exactly what we did today, so tomorrow is another game.
“We are playing Egypt tomorrow and Egypt lost today to Ivory Coast, so we are meeting Egypt tomorrow. Our own is to get the maximum three points and then we move again.”
NAN recalls that Sand Super Eagles crashed out in the second round of the 2013 edition of the CAF Championship hosted by Morocco.
The two top finalists that emerge at the end of the round robbing championship will represent Africa in the 2015 World Cup in Portugal. (NAN)
