Ikorodu- The President of the Redeemed Evangelical Mission Worldwide (TREM), Bishop Mike Okonkwo, MFR, on Sunday commissioned a multi-million naira water project at Oke-Oriya, Ikorodu in Lagos State.
Okonkwo, while performing the ceremony, said that there was the need for churches to go beyond preaching and evangelism.
“By now churches should be looking beyond preaching the gospel by thinking about innovations that will be of benefit to the people.

“Our mission in TREM is not just disseminating the word of God but doing things that will be of need to not only our members but everybody,’’ Okonkwo said.
Reacting, the Chairman of Oke-Oriya Community Development Area, Mr Sesan Oresanya, commended the church for the gesture, urging others to emulate TREM.
Oresanya said that the project would serve the people of the community who had lived without pipe borne water.
“The water project is to serve people who do not have the resources to get bore holes in their houses but are going to faraway places to get water,’’ he said. (NAN)
