Dutse – The Jigawa Government on Thursday said it had concluded arrangements to free more inmates with minor offenses.
Mr Muhammad Bedi, the Controller of Prison in the state, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse.
Bedi said the gesture would help in decongesting prisons in the state, adding that the state Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru, had given directives for the release of more inmates.
He said the governor had pledged to further support inmates in the state and urged those who benefitted from the gesture to be law-abiding.
The state governor, Mohammed Badaru, had on July 17 freed 40 inmates with minor offenses. (NAN)
