Keffi (Nasarawa)- The Nasarawa State House of Assembly says it will partner with the state University in Keffi to uplift the institution to a world class standard for the development of education sector in the country.
Mr Daniel Ogazzi, the Chairman, state House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology, made this known on Monday in Keffi during the committee’s familiarisation visit to the state university.
Ogazzi explained that the visit was not to witch hunt anybody but to acquaint members with the management of the institution so as to improve on the standard of the university.
He said: “Our visit is to familiarie ourselves with you in order to move the institution forward for the benefit of all because no society can achieve meaningful progress without sound education.
“We will ensure that the assembly collaborate with the executive and also with the management of this institution in order to uplift the institution to an international or world class standard for the overall development of the country.
“Uplifting the institution to an international standard will not only make the institution competitive but will also create an avenue for foreigners to study in the institution.
“It is only when the institution has been uplifted to an international or world standard that parents, foreigners and others stakeholders will have confidence in an institution.”
The chairman assured the management of the institution of the committee’s commitment to do everything within its constitutional power to ensure that the standard of education in the institution was improved.
The lawmaker also assured the people of the state of their readiness to enact laws that have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state and solicited for support to enable them succeed in the task ahead.
Responding, Prof. Mohammed Mainoma, the Vice Chancellor of the university, thanked the legislators for their visit and called for sustained synergy.

“It is our hope and believe that the state 5th assembly is poise to give their services and best to the people of the state in order to ensure speedy socio-economic development of the country,” he said.
He pledged the institution’s determination to give premium to the welfare of staff and students in order to improve the quality of education in the state and the country at large. (NAN)
