The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Osun state governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has won his polling unit. Adeleke reportedly polled 154 votes to defeat Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress and other candidates at the Abogunde/Sagba ward 2, unit 9 in Ede.
It previously reported that election observers for Osun state governorship election commended the INEC and security agencies over the peaceful conduct of the ongoing election. The head of foreign election observer for Osun 2018 election, Ketil Karlson, said the conduct of the election not only impressive but commendable. He said he was amazed about the large turnout of people to perform their civil rights. Karlson added that the conduct of Osun election indicated that the electoral body is fully prepared for 2019 general elections.
Also speaking, a director in the Police Service Commission who monitored the conduct and activities of police officers deployed for the election, Brighton Saagwe, said that the policemen displayed high level of professionalism at their various places of duty. He said the police compliance was excellent, adding that they did their job according to the police standard norm.
