Abuja – A 54-year-old property agent, Promise Orji, on Thursday appeared in a Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, for alleged cheating .
Orji allegedly collected N760,000 from Agbo Innocent as agency fee and part payment for the rental of a property within the FCT.
The Prosecutor, Urom Out, told the court that on Dec. 12, 2015, Innocent of Kennedy Udeh Road, Maitama, reported the case at the Wuye Police Station.
Otu said that in November, 2015, the accused collected N380,000 and N150,000 as agent fee as well as N230,000 as part payment for the rent of a property opposite the Family Worship Centre, Wuye District, FCT.
He said that it was later discovered that the owner of the land did not give out his property for rent, neither was the accused a property agent.

Otu said the offences contravened Section 322 of the Penal Code.
The Judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted bail to the accused bail in the sum of N400,000 with one reliable surety in like sum.
Kagarko ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
He adjourned the case till March 9, for hearing. (NAN)
