Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Mr Oseloka Obaze has emerged winner of the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State that took place on Monday.
Obaze polled a total of 672 votes to emerge victorious ahead of his closest rival, Alex Obi-Ogbolu who scored 190 votes.
Me Ifeanyi Ubah who came third polled 94 votes.
According to News Express, 958 delegates participated in the election.
Out of the six aspirants who indicated interest to battle for the Anambra PDP governorship ticket, the trío of – Stella Oduah, John Emeka and Linda Ikpeazu – dropped before the process began.
There were indications that before the election, the list of delegates to participate in the election was hijacked.
The Stella Odua group that dropped out therefore, called on the PDP Delegate Appeal Panel led by Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State to look into the matter.
Meanwhile, Obaze won the PDP ticket 24 hours after Tony Nwoye emerged winner of the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Nwoye, a member of the House of Representatives, had scored 2,146 votes to defeat his nearest rival, Senator Andy Ubah who got 931 votes.
The results were announced on Sunday by the Chief Returning Officer, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State.
Eleven aspirants contested for the Anambra APC governorship ticket at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Center in Awka, the state capital.
Sundiata Post recalls that last week, Chief Osita Chidoka also emerged the winner of the United Peoples Party (UPP) in the state.
He is to fly the Flag of his party, UPP in the Anambra governorship election taking place on November 18. (News Express)
