The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 8 of Etsako East Local Government Area, Edo State, Musa Abdulahi, has been suspended by the ward’s executive council.
The suspension was based on allegations of anti-party activities, gross misconduct, insubordination, and financial mismanagement.
The decision was made during a meeting attended by the ward executives, led by Muhammed Muhammed, along with 22 other APC leaders. According to a statement signed by Muhammed and others, Abdulahi failed to lead the party effectively, as required by the APC constitution.
Key Allegations Against Abdulahi:
- Refusal to convene meetings to address issues affecting the party.
- Involvement in activities that embarrassed Anamero Dekeri, a prominent member of the House of Representatives.
- Misappropriation of funds meant for mobilizing party members to collect voter cards.
- Collusion with opposition parties to undermine APC operations.
The statement emphasized that Abdulahi must immediately return all party properties and official documents in his possession and warned him against presenting himself as the ward chairman or even as an APC member. It also noted that failure to comply would lead to legal action, as provided by the APC constitution.
The executive council reaffirmed its support for Anamero Dekeri, highlighting his contributions since assuming office.
When reached for comment, Abdulahi claimed to be unaware of his suspension.
This suspension demonstrates the APC’s stance on ensuring accountability, transparency, and discipline among its members at all levels.
