Enugu – Mr Bartholomew Ugwuoke, a former Director of Research and Strategy at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Headquarters, has denied misappropriating the party’s fund.
In statement on Friday in Enugu, Ugwuoke described as a figment of the writer’s imagination, a publication in a national daily on Thursday which accused him of corruption and misappropriation of the party’s fund.
He said that the office he held had nothing to do with finances and, as such, was incapable of misappropriating any fund of the party.
According to him, APC’s Research and Strategy Office does not interface with the public apart from researching on matters referred to it and making recommendations to the leadership.
“I was the Director of Research and Strategy of APC National Headquarters prior to the emergence of the current National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party.
“The new NWC deemed it necessary to suspend all the directors including myself on assumption of office.
“After some months, I was paid off on grounds that my service was no longer needed.
“I was not aware of any committee headed by His Excellency, Saad Birinin Kudu, neither was I invited by any committee for any corruption inquiries during and after my stay at the national headquarters.
“The party reserves the right to hire and fire any director in the national secretariat, Ugwuoke said.
Ugwuoke, who said that he issued the statement in order to set records straight, added that he remained loyal to APC. (NAN)
