Another major aspirant has withdrawn from the race just before the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Anambra State, which is set to take place today.
According to Naija News, Paul Chukwuma, a prominent contender from Umueri in Anambra North, has pulled out of the primary and also resigned from the APC. He said his decision was due to dissatisfaction with certain internal issues within the party.
While speaking to party members, Chukwuma made it clear that he still supports President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He said his exit from the APC does not reflect any disagreement with the president’s leadership.
He stated, “Mr President is not the problem of APC, but some of the unprogressive elements who don’t want the party to move forward.”
Chukwuma added that he had submitted his resignation letter to the ward chairman and explained that he wants to take a break after working for many years to build the party.
“For now, I want to rest having built the party for many years.”
Earlier, another aspirant, Chukwuma Umeoji from Aguata, had withdrawn from the APC primary. In his withdrawal letter, Umeoji thanked his supporters for their loyalty and wished the party success in the upcoming election.
Even with these withdrawals, the APC primary contest remains active. The aspirants still in the race include Prof Obiora Okonkwo, Edozie Madu, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, Valentine Ozigbo, and Johnbosco Onunkwo.
