Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Christians of various denominations in Plateau State on Sunday prayed for the Appeal Court victory of Governor Caleb Mutfwang who’s governorship appeal verdict will be decided today.
Recall that the Governor won at the Election Petition Tribunal that sat in Jos in September 2023, after which Dr Nentawe Yilwatda of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who lost to Mutfwang at the Tribunal proceeded to the Appeal Court for a continuation of the matter. https://sundiatapost.com/plateau-women-protests-sends-signals-against-sacking-of-gov-mutfwang-by-acourt/
However, the 19th of September was set as a day for the Appeal Court judgement, and prayers began on Friday at various Mosques in Jos during Juma’at, to pray for the Governor’s victory.
Some of the Governor’s supporters who spoke to our correspondent on their expectations of the court case said the people of Plateau are hopeful that God will grant the Governor victory because he overwhelmingly won the March 18 governorship election.
The pundits said since Mutfwang became governor the State has witnessed a lot of transformation, nothing to be compared with the eight years of the former governor, Simon Lalong.
They said the APC led former governor Lalong’s government messed up the State without a single infrastructural development to reckon with. https://sundiatapost.com/appeal-court-ive-confidence-in-the-judiciary-gov-mutfwang/
“Governor Mutfwang in just a few months has performed impressively. You can see the road infrastructure he embarked on during his 100 days in office.
“The Governor has also demonstrated that he can restore peace to the State. We can all attest to his genuine commitment to the peace process that has brought relative peace to the troubled Mangu, Riyom, and Barkin-Ladi local government areas of the State.
“This is why most citizens of the State want him to remain as Governor and we voted for him”, a pundit who does not want his name on print said.
Last week various groups took to the streets to protest against the sacking of all PDP National Assembly Members by the Appeal Court, calling on the Judges to reverse the judgement, our correspondent report.
