Abuja- The draw for the 2015 African Youth Championship (AYC) will be conducted on Dec. 21 at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt.
According to CAF, hosts Senegal will be seeded in Group A of the competition which will kick off on March 8 in Dakar and end on March 22.
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, who have won the under-20 continental competition a record six times, will be one of the eight finalists in the draw.
To qualify, they had defeated Tanzania and walked over Lesotho.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nigeria finished third at the last tournament in 2013 and hosted by Algeria.
Defending champions Egypt will however not be at Senegal 2015 after they were eliminated by Congo Brazzaville.
Other finalists at Senegal 2015 are Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, South Africa and Zambia.
NAN reports that the semi-finalists at the AYC will represent Africa at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand from May 30 to June 20.
The draw for the World Cup will be done on Feb. 10, 2015.(NAN)
