Hasan stated this on Thursday during the Passing Out Ceremony of NAFRC Course 2, 2024, held at Buhari Hall, NAFRC, Oshodi, Lagos State.
He said the event symbolised a profound milestone to the gallant service men and women transitioning to civilian life after years of selfless service to the nation.
“We celebrate the combination of your unwavering commitment, relentless hardwork and steadfast discipline which you embodied throughout your careers.
“No doubt, this six months training has equipped you with the knowledge and skills to transition effectively into civil life, becoming resourceful managers, entrepreneurs and contributors to national development.
“It is our hope that you are going to comfortably enjoy your post service life and apply the knowledge and skills you have acquired in your various areas of endeavour,” Hasan said.
The CAS said that the essence of the gathering brought to mind the local adage which says “soldier come, soldier go, but barracks remain”.
“While many of us may have joked about this saying during our careers, it beholds a profound meaning worthy of reflection.
“It reminds us that the Nigerian military is more than the individuals who serve within its ranks and is a resilient institution that safeguards our nation’s existence and endures the test of time.
“The adage also highlights the significance of the foundation you have built and the legacy you live behind,” he said.
Hasan said that as the retirees transition to new chapters in life, the values, traditions and impact of their service lives on, continually shaping the Armed Forces and the nation as a whole.
“Although, you may no longer wear military uniform daily, the discipline, courage and commitment that define your careers will continue to inspire those who follow in your footsteps.
“This will ensure that the strength of the military remains steadfast,” he said.
“As you reintegrate into civilian life, you should carry these values forward becoming pillars of strength and ambassadors of the military profession in your communities.
“As ex-service men and women, I trust that you will set exemplary standards in your communities contributing to peace, security and progress.
“While the barracks remain, your legacy will resonate far beyond these walls, fostering security, peace and development in our nation.
“Retirment from active service is ultimately a symbol of success and progress. It marks the beginning of a new chapter filled with opportunities and challenges,” he said.
Hasan advised them not to entertain fears about their future saying that the discipline, training and skills they had received by God’s grace would ensure a bright and prosperous future.
“Always be thankful that you have ended your career on a high note as not everyone will have this privilege,” he said.
The CAS, however, paid tribute to the fallen comrades who paid the ultimate price in the defence of the nation.
“Their courage and dedication remain etched in our hearts and their sacrifices inspire us to thrive for a safer and more prosperous Nigeria,” he said.
Hasan commended the Commandant, NAFRC, AVM Bashir Mamman, his officers, soldiers as well as civilian staff of NAFRC for their unwavering dedication, preparing the personnel for life beyond active service.
He also appreciated the families and loved ones of the graduating participants for their support, sacrifice, understanding and encouragement which had been invaluable in the lives of the service men and women.
“The armed forces leadership remains commited to prioritising welfare of both serving and retired personnel and will continue to support NAFRC and advance it’s objectives,” Hasan said.
The CAS also expressed his profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support for the armed forces.
“His commitment to capacity development and welfare of our personnel both serving and retired is a source of strength and encouragement,” Hasan said. (NAN)
