Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West), has donated cash worth fifty million naira (N50m) and food items to his constituents and others line with his tradition of extending goodwill gestures for the celebration of the Yuletide.
This disclosure was contained in a statement signed by Chief Kayode Odunaro, the Media Adviser to Senator Adeola and made available to newsmen.
According to the statement, each of the 59 wards of Ogun West Senatorial District are receiving a total sum of N500,000 and 10 bags of rice each for the celebration of Christmas. In addition, various sub-groups like Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, the League of Imams, Traditional Rulers, Baales and others equally received donation of cash, rice, cows and hampers from the Senator.
Explaining his motive for the gesture in a message to his constituents, the chairman of Senate Committee on Appropriations stated that notwithstanding the challenging times the nation is going through every citizen must celebrate at occasion like Christmas and other festivities.
“Since I joined politics and serving in public office as a legislator of over 20 years, it is a thing of joy to reach out to my people in various forms to ensure they enjoy each seasonal celebration on a yearly basis. It is part of my effective representation of my people and by God’s grace this will continue in the years ahead” he stated.
The senator urged his constituents to expect better days in the years ahead as his promise of turning Ogun West Senatorial District to a “small London” in the years ahead is not a joke but an aspiration he is working towards.
On the eve of Christmas, the Senatorial Office of the Senator at Ilaro-Yewa, Yewa South LGA was a beehive of activities as representatives of various Local Government Areas and groups were seen collecting their packages.
It was gathered that beyond his constituents in Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Adeola equally extended similar gestures to some personalities and groups beyond Ogun West Senatorial District in Ogun State.
