LAGOS – A Catholic Cleric, Msgr. Francis Ogunmodede, has urged Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State to urgently develop water transportation to reduce the persistent gridlock in the city.
Ogunmodede, who is the Episcopal Vicar/Dean, Lekki Region of the Catholic Arch Diocese of Lagos, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.
“Here in Lekki for example, there is need for water transportation, if they develop water transportation, they would decrease the heavy traffic that we have along Lekki express.
“Let them go very well into water transportation in Lagos.
“Ambode, he has work (to do), he comes from Epe, so he needs it, there should be a good transportation between Epe and Badore and other places and Lekki here as other places, even Ikoyi and so on.

“Lagos is surrounded by water, they should take advantage, develop water transportation, at least that one would decrease the number of cars we have on our roads and of course the public transport system.’’
The cleric said that the development of an alternative mode of transportation would also reduce travel time, and improve both the economic and health condition of the populace. (NAN)
