KANO – The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano state has elected Alhaji Rabi’u Dansharu as its new chairman.
The state congress, which started on Saturday night, ended on Sunday morning.
Announcing the results, the former governor of Ebonyi, Mr Sam Egwu who supervised the election, said Dansharu defeated Sen. Mas’ud Doguwa with 1,109 votes as against the 458 votes won by Doguwa.
“By our party constitution and guidelines, we wish to declare Dansharu as the elected chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano state,’’ he said.[eap_ad_2]
He commended party members for their cooperation, patience and peaceful conduct during the congress.
In his acceptance speech, Dansharu thanked party members for giving him the mandate to lead the party in the state.
He also commended the party elders and other stakeholders for standing firm to ensure that the congress was hitch-free.
He promised to operate an open door policy to strengthen the party and to give party members a sense of belonging.
He, however, called on the supporters to give the new leadership constructive advice that would ensure progress and development of the party in the state.
