tertiary institutions.
In a statement she issued, Otegbade expressed concern about the number of qualified youths who were roaming the streets across the country.
The education consultant said this was just because there were not enough tertiary institutions to accommodate them.
Otegbade then urged governments at all levels to evolve inclusive educational programmes aimed at providing the enabling environment for the enhancement of admissions of youths into tertiary institutions.
She said, in her efforts to enhance the number of youths admitted yearly by the country’s tertiary institutions, Harvestfield Educational Services had created admission opportunities through the “study abroad’’ initiative.
“I discovered that most youths possess basic requirements and pass the Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), yet they do not get admissions.
“I also discovered that the attention of the average youth is on the conventional, or what you may call the federal, universities.
“Even in their forms, and in most cases, many don’t choose polytechnics or Colleges of Education.
“So, I feel something should be done to augment the efforts of government, and my organisation then initiated a programme to exploit opportunities which are available in universities overseas.
“Harvestfield Educational Services brokers meetings with parents and willing students with such university authorities, and admissions are processed with ease,’’ Otegbade said.
The managing director said the organisation would also hold its Eighth Education Exposition to sensitise parents and interested students to the available university admission opportunities which could be accessed overseas.
She said the exposition would hold in Lagos on Jan. 29 and Jan. 30, in Abuja on Feb. 3, Port Harcourt on Feb. 4, and Uyo on Feb. 6.(NAN)
