Abuja -The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has dragged two persons before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, over alleged sale of fake drugs.
A statement issued on Thursday by Abubakar Jimoh, Director, Special Duties, NAFDAC, said the accused persons, Monday Enuma and Ikechukwu Adibe, were arraigned on four and five-count charges respectively.
According to the statement, the two had pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.
It added that the accused persons were arrested for selling fake Augmentin, Syrum, Alabukun, Septrin and Ampiclox, an offence contrary to Section 1 (a) of the Counterfeit and Fake Drug and Unwholesome Processed Foods (Miscellaneous Provision) Act, Cap C34, LFN 2004 Act.
It is also punishable under section 3(1) of the Act.
The judge, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba ordered that the two accused persons be remanded in prison custody after counsel to NAFDAC, Mr Umar Shamaki moved an application for their remand.
The case has been fixed for Aug. 5 for consideration of their bail application. (NAN)
