Dickson Denies Defection to ADC, Reaffirms Loyalty to PDP

ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – Former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has dismissed as false media reports claiming that he has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement issued on Friday by his media aide, Ajiri Daniels, the senator described the reports as fake and misleading, stressing that he remains a committed and loyal member of the PDP.
Senator Dickson explained that he is currently observing a period of mourning following the death of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. As a mark of respect, he said he has stepped back from active political engagements and has been receiving condolence visits from friends, political leaders, allies, and well-wishers from across the country.

According to the statement, the visitors include leaders from different political parties and individuals from various walks of life, a development that may have been misinterpreted by sections of the media.
While noting that he is closely monitoring political developments, Dickson stated that any future political decision will only be taken after the burial and following wide consultations with friends and political associates nationwide. He emphasized that such a decision, if any, would be formally announced through appropriate channels.

In the meantime, the senator reaffirmed his position as a key leader within the PDP and expressed hope that the party would reposition itself in line with its historic role and legacy in Nigerian politics.
