Ikeja – A 27-year-old disc jockey, Kuti Badiru, has been arraigned over alleged membership of a secret cult known as Dragon Squad.
Badiru, a resident of Liworu Lane, Aga, Ikorodu, Lagos, appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on counts of conspiracy and membership of an unlawful society.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the prosecutor, Sgt. Michael Unah, the disc jockey committed the offences with some others still at large, on Feb. 2 at 7.20p.m. in Ikorodu.
The prosecutor said that the Ikorodu Divisional Police Headquarters got information that a cult group was initiating new members.
He said that the police consequently mobilised personnel to the scene.
“The boys took to their heels and abandoned their banners and musical instruments when they saw the police; the defendant was arrested with the exhibits,” he said.
Unah said that the alleged offences contravened Sections 40(a) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).
The Chief Magistrate, Mr A. A. Fashola, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Fashola ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case until until March 23 for mention
