Kaduna – A Kaduna-based Agriculture Company, Global Exhibition and Business Services Limited, says it would host the maiden edition of ECOWAS Agro-Allied and Technology Exhibition in October.
Alhaji Bawa Garba, Chairman of the company, said at a news conference on Friday in Kaduna, that the event would hold between Oct. 7 and 16 at the Kaduna International Trade and Investment Centre.
The theme of the fair is “Agricultural Production and Processing for self-sufficiency, poverty eradication and economic development.”
Garba, who is also Chairman, Organising Committee, said that the event would showcase modern agricultural technology and latest farm implements used in cultivation to enhance harvest in line with global standard.
He said that the theme was deliberately chosen to key into Federal Government’s policy of diversifying Nigeria’s economy through the agricultural sector.
Garba said that 60 companies within and outside the ECOWAS region had indicated interest to participate in the exhibition.
He disclosed that apart from the ECOWAS member-nations, Kenya and South Africa had indicated readiness to take part in the exhibition, expected to attract Direct Foreign Investment.
“Also, South Korea, China, Ukraine, Iran and France had indicated their interest to be part of the event.”
Garba said that the forum would also host a round table discussion on “Nigeria Agricultural Policy: Problems and prospects”, to identify missing links in government policies and advise it appropriately to meet its economic diversification plans. (NAN)
