ENUGU – The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, on Monday assumed duty with a call on aggrieved members of the party to return to its fold.
Addressing party members at its office in Enugu Asogwa pledged his readiness to run an inclusive government for the party to have an edge at the forthcoming elections.
He said it was not time for squabbles in the party but for its members to come together and move it forward ahead of the 2015 elections.
Asogwa called for the support and cooperation of party members to ensure its victory in the general elections.
In his remarks, the Publicity Secretary of the party, Dr Okey Eze, congratulated the new chairman and promised to work with him to move the party forward.
Some of the party loyalists, including the state women leader, Mrs Oby Nwofor, urged Asogwa to work hard to ensure a hitch-free party primaries.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the PDP secretariat witnessed a beehive of activities as party members showed solidarity with the new chairman.
Asogwa emerged the new chairman on Saturday following the resignation of Chief Vita Abba to run for a political post. (NAN)
