Eket (Akwa Ibom) – Sen. Helen Esuene has urged the National Assembly to approve the Speed Limiting Device (SLD) introduced by Federal Road Safety Commission) to reduce road crashes in the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the National Assembly had passed a resolution stopping the use of the device by motorists in the country.
Esuene made the appeal on Wednesday in Eket, Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom, in an interview with newsmen.
She stated this against the back drop of the ghastly auto crash that claimed the lives of the late Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Mr James Ocholi, his wife and son on March 6.
Esuene said that the vehicle the Ocholis were travelling in would not have somersaulted several times if it was on an average speed 100 kilometres per hour.
She called on the National Assembly not to kill the speed limiting device innovation of the FRSC based on the excuse that the economy was not conducive for the policy.

described the late Ocholi as one of the finest Senior Advocates of Nigeria in the country.
She regretted that Ocholi died when his services were mostly needed in the Change Agenda of Mr President. (NAN)
