Lagos – An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday remanded a factory worker, Kingsley Oshiegbu, in Ikoyi Prisons’ custody over the alleged murder of his wife, Ifeoma Ndidi, 32.
Olajuwon, however, said that the court would not take the plea of the accused as it lacked the jurisdiction to do so.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Olajuwon, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs).
The magistrate adjourned the case till Aug. 10.
Oshiegbu, 37, who resides at No. 7, Majaro St., Agege, is standing trial on a charge of murder.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Cyriacus Osuji,had told the court that the 37-year-old accused who resides at No. 7, Majaro St., Agege, Lagos state , is standing trial on a charge of murder.
Osuji said the accused had on April 1 at about 11:45pm, at his residence attacked the deceased by beating her severally on the head which led to her death.
“The deceased was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival,” he said.
He said that the offence contravened Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 221 prescribes capital punishment for offenders. (NAN)
