LAGOS – The Vice-President of the Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF), Godswill Megwa, on Thursday said that plans were underway to improve and increase the number of hockey pitches across the country.
Megwa told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the proposal would go a long way toward improving the standard of the game.
“We have really articulated a lot of things that we hope will help build hockey in Nigeria.
“We’re planning to make sure that we have enough training pitches around the country.
“We have six geo-political zones, few of them have Astro-turfs and others don’t have.
“We are still looking at the possibility of making sure that at least one geo-political zone has one training pitch.
“That will help us to spread the game.’’
He added that the federation had set up various committee to work out strategies to popularise hockey in the country.(NAN)
