The Police Command in Akwa Ibom has confirmed a fire incident at the office of the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Timfon John, informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Uyo on Saturday, assuring that all electoral materials for the election were not damaged by the fire.
John stated that the command had increased security at all AKISIEC offices and key locations across the state.
“Some hoodlums partly touched the AKISIEC office in Ibiono Ibom, but election materials remained intact, and the election is ongoing,” he said.
