LAGOS (SUNDIATA POST)- 11th August 2024 was a day of celebration and reflection for Senator Solomon Olamilekan, popularly known as Yayi, as he marked his 55th birthday. Friends, political associates, and well-wishers from across the country gathered to honor the esteemed senator, celebrating his contributions to the nation and his unwavering commitment to the betterment of society.
Senator Olamilekan, who has become a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, has represented Lagos West Senatorial District with distinction. His legislative achievements, dedication to his constituents, and his philanthropic efforts have earned him widespread admiration.
Some of the well wishers who took their turn to take the audience down memory lane, eulogised the life of a man who has impacted his constituents in particular and the country at large.
One of his closest allies, Mr. Salisu D. Umar, Director Committee on Appropriation said Senator Yayi deserves every accolade on this special day because he has touched many lives. According to him, ” Senator Adeola Solomon Olamilekan – our incoming governor insha allah, is known to me before I started working with him. When I was in the Public Accounts Committee as the Director, I have course to interract with him, though mostly not in person but since then, I have been watching his progression in political scene. When I joined the Committee as the Director Appropriation, I met him and he received me very warmly. I can tell you without mincing words that himself and I now consider ourselves not just as boss and subordinate, but we are mainly brothers. I assure you, he has touched my life and not just my life but the lives of my colleagues on the secretariat of the Appropriation committee and we cant say thank you enough to him. Therefore, we wish him a very pleasant birthday and many happy returns of good things of life. I equally pray God Almighty to answer all his inner-most prayers and meet him at all his points of needs and to celebrate more of this ocassion till the end of time.
Another close friend, Executive Secretary, Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) Dr Yemisi Gbamgbosi, eulogised Senator Yari describing him as the man of the people and a trustworthy leader. He is someone God sent primarily to liberate my own area because one way or the other, for decades we have never been able to get it right and I never believed that somebody will come and do what those people have not been able to do for decades.
Senator Olamilekan is a man that is so generous, he is a man that you will never believe the extent he can help you. By the year 2027, we will not be celebrating this birthday in Abuja. We will be celebrating the birthday in Ogun state- by that time he will be 58 years so we will invite you to come and join us in the state and by the time he is clocking 60, he will still be the Executive Governor of Ogun state.
Dr. Gbamgbosi therefore commended the Chief Of Staff, Chief Kayode Odunaro for putting the event together, adding that he deserve a lot of commendation and thanked everyone that contributed in making the celebration possible.
Earlier his opening remarks the Chief of Staff recounted that all the years he has been with his boss, it has been countless philantropic endeavours for his constituents and the people of his state and that is does not get tired of doing only those things that will improve the welfare of his people in particular and Nigeria in general.

Over the years, he has initiated and supported numerous programs aimed at empowering youth, providing scholarships, and improving healthcare facilities in his constituency.
