Munich – Officials at Munich airport have found 1.2 tonnes of khat, a plant that contains a stimulant banned in Germany, a customs spokesman reported on Tuesday.
The khat leaves were found on Thursday last week in a consignment labelled “table decorations”.
It was loaded in Dubai for despatch to the United States.
“This is the largest quantity of khat found in the existence of Munich Airport,’’ customs spokesman, Thomas Meister, said.
Investigations into both sender and recipient are proceeding. (dpa/NAN)
