BENIN – A pressure group, Save Afemai Group, has appealed to the Federal Government to help in addressing the gully erosion in Auchi to save lives and property.
The group’s initiator, Mr Blessing Agbomhere, made the appeal in Benin on Monday while addressing a news conference.
Agbomhere said the gully had claimed lives and destroyed several houses in the area, posing serious threat to the community on a daily basis.
He called on well-meaning individuals and the state government to prevail on the Federal Government to find permanent solution to the erosion problem.
“The government of Adams Oshiomhole must galvanise the Federal Government, as a matter of urgency and utmost importance, to rescue Auchi and its environs from erosion. [eap_ad_1] “It is capable of eroding the community if proactive measures are not taken,’’ he said.
The group also urged all sons and daughters of Afemai to carefully choose those they entrust with positions of authority as the 2015 general elections draw nearer.
Agbomhere said they should entrust power to those that are capable of changing the fortunes of the people and the various communities in Afemai land.
“Self-serving individuals must not be entrusted with power come 2015,” he said.
He commended the people that have empowered youths in the area, saying others should emulate them. (NAN)
