Lagos – Some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Epe, Lagos State, have drummed support for a state legislator, Mr Olusegun Olulade, to represent Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The News Agency if Nigeria (NAN) reports that Olulade currently represents Epe Constituemcy II in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
He is the Chairman of the House Committee on Health Services.
Chief Lanre Rasaq, a former Commissioner for Transport in the state, led an advocacy for Olulade’s election into the House of Reps, on Friday in Epe at the Eleniyan Professional Ambassadors get-together.
According to Rasaq, a Governorship Candidate of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) for Lagos State, politics in Epe has an order.
Rasaq said that it would the turn of Ikosi Ejinrin (Epe North, where Olulade hails from) to produce the representative in 2019.
“I present to you, the good people of Epe Division, for the House of Representatives, Olulade; so shall it be.
“All of us have agreed, it is turn-by-turn; it is the turn of Ikosi Ejinrin to provide the rep.
“All the Obas in Lagos East Senatorial District support us since we don’t come out to say anything without their permission,” he said.
Rasaq promised to support Olulade’s election campaign greatly.
Alhaja Ramat Bankole, APC’s Welfare Secretary, Lagos State, remarked that Olulade had done well as a state legislator. and deserved support for election into the House of Represenratives.
She said that she would mobilise women greatly for 2019 elections.
Alhaja Mopelola Gbabijo, Wife of a former House of RepRepresentatives Member, Mr Bola Gbabijo, said that Olulade distinguished himself in the state Assembly.
“The last empowerment programme by Olulade was so huge, surpassing what reps and senators do.
“He has touched the lives of so many families, businesses, students, youths and women, standing in the gap for so many.
“He will do better if saddled with the responsibility of representing us in the House of Reps,” she said.
Mr Nurudeen Alimi, Chairman of Lagos State Councillors’ Forum, said that Olulade had outstanding achievements and political strategies.
Alimi, Leader of the Legislative Council, Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA, said that Olulade deserved to go to the House of Representatives.
Other chieftains, including Messrs Adeniyi Onanuga and Adeniyi Saliu, Chairmen of Ikosi-Ejirin and Eredo LCDAs, respectively, also expressed support for Olulade’s ambition.
Responding, Olulade said that he used the mandate given to him by his people to uplift, promote and develop the state constituency because he believed the position was for service and not accumulation of wealth.
“Today, I have been provoked to move to the green chambers at the House of Reps. I thank you for endorsement and I promise not to disappoint you,” he said. (NAN)
