ILORIN – An Ilorin Area Court on Friday dissolved the five-year-old marriage between Hawau Wasiu and Isiaka Wasiu over lack of childlessness.
Hawau, 34, a resident of Taiwo-Oke area of Ilorin, had earlier prayed the court to dissolve her marriage to Isiaka over childlessness in the marriage.
She told the court that her husband was not patient with her and was always blaming her for their childless situation.
“My husband always blames and calls me different names like, witch and dead wood, just to make me cry,” she said.
She further told the court that the marriage was contracted in 2009.
“My Lord, I want an end to this marriage because I cannot continue to suffer and endure in an unproductive marriage with a man that has no fear of Allah in him,’’ she said.
The husband did not object to the prayer of his wife, saying she was free to go.
“I am tired of spending unnecessarily on a woman that fails to bear me child,” he said.
He prayed the court to grant the prayer of his wife without any claim.
The presiding judge, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, dissolved the marriage and issued her a certificate of divorce. (NAN)
