ABUJA – The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Bala Mohammed, has called on Nigerians to pray for the unity of the country as it celebrates its 54th Independence Anniversary.
The call was contained in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday signed by Mr Muhammad Sule, the Chief Press Secretary to the Minister.
The statement quoted Mohammed as imploring Nigerians to use the occasion to unite for the progress and prosperity of the country.
“Pray for the success of the country’s leadership under President Goodluck Jonathan, for the Almighty to continue to guide, protect and give him the wisdom to steer the affairs of state,” it said. [eap_ad_1] The minister also enjoined residents of the FCT to supplicate for the nation to overcome its current security challenges as it approached the general elections.
The minister urged the residents to continue to support the Federal Government in its desire to make the general elections free and fair throughout the country.
Mohammed thanked God for sparing the life of many Nigerians to witness this year’s anniversary and advised them to live in peace and harmony with one another.
Mohammed said that the current security challenges in some parts of the country would soon be a thing of the past.
He called on Nigerians to partner the security agencies to win the war against insurgency. (NAN)
