Enugu- The Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Uriel Palti, has pledged to partner the Enugu State Government in the development of agricultural and industrial sectors of the state.
Palti made the pledge in Enugu on Wednesday during a facility tour of various government projects.
He said the partnership would help boost agriculture, create industries and employment opportunities for youths.
The ambassador said that Israel would also collaborate with Nigeria to fight and win terrorism.
According to him, Israel and Nigeria have the same challenge of insecurity, adding that collaboration would ensure better results.
Palti, who said that the purpose of his visit was to a relationship between Israel and the state, commended the government for its efforts toward strengthening the economy of the state through agricultural development.
Conducting the ambassador round the projects, Gov. Sullivan Chime, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Victor Atuonwu, said the state had provided the enabling environment for foreign and local investors in the state.
He said that the state government had done a lot in the area of infrastructural development as well as fostering security, adding that the state had been relatively peaceful in the past seven years.
The governor said the partnership would take the economy of the state to greater heights.
Among the projects visited were the Enugu San Carlos Pineapple farm in Awgu local government area, the new State Secretariat Complex, the ongoing Enugu Diagnostic Centre and the Polo Park Shopping Mall. (NAN)
