KADUNA – The Kaduna State House of Assembly on Thursday approved additional N2.07 billion funding for the state owned university.
This followed the passage of first supplementary capital estimate for the Kaduna State University.
The request for the supplementary budget was forwarded by Gov. Mukhtar Yero to the legislature.
The governor had said that the N2.07 billion would be secured from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund.
“The amount would be spent on infrastructure development aimed at improving facilities for conducive teaching, research and learning.”
The house, at its sitting presided by the Deputy Speaker, Mr Peter Adamu, unanimously approved the request.
The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Alhaji Yakubu Yusuf, told newsmen after the sitting that the money would greatly help the university to discharge its mandate.
Yusuf said the amount would also cover research farms, library materials and the development of a teaching hospital. (NAN)
