Argungu (Kebbi State) – The Adamu Augie College of Education in Kebbi is to start awarding degrees, the Provost of the college, Alhaji Aliyub Muhammad, announced on Tuesday.
Muhammad made the announcement at Argungu, near Birinin Kebbi while speaking with newsmen.
He said the degree programmes would commence when academic activities commenced at the permanent site of the institution.
He did not give a time frame.
“Arrangements are ongoing for the relocation of Adamu Augie College of Education, Argungu from its temporary site to a more conducive permanent site.”
He said that construction work at the permanent site of the college, handled by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund had reached advanced stage.
“We have already embarked on clearing of weeds surrounding the completed building in preparation for the relocation to the permanent site.”
He said the institution had adequate manpower to run degree programmes, adding that inadequate lecture rooms at the temporary site had hindered the commencement of the degrees programmes.
“We can run degree programmes in education when we relocate to the permanent site like other colleges of education in the country,” Mohammed stated.
The provost commended the State Government for paying the registration fees of indigenes studying at the college.
