Birnin Kebbi – The Kebbi State Government has approved the implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for medical doctors serving in the state-owned hospitals.
The Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Umar Kambaza, disclosed this in a statement he signed in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
“As part of efforts being made by the Kebbi State Government to boost healthcare delivery, Gov. Alhaji Atiku Bagudu has approved promotion up to CONMESS 7 for its medical doctors.
“In addition, the State Board of Internal Revenue has been directed to ensure that the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax of the doctors is in line with those of their counterparts in Federal and private practice,’’ Kambaza said.
He expressed the hope that the incentives would stop the spate of medical doctors in the employment of the state government transferring their services from the state health institutions.
“We hope this change will serve as an important catalyst for greater service delivery in healthcare delivery in the state,’’ the commissioner said. (NAN)
