Birnin Kebbi- Kebbi State women, on Tuesday lauded the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in the state, for allocating 40 per cent of local government and state delegates slots to women for the forthcoming party primary elections.
Hajiya A’ishatu Abubakar-Gunabi, APC Women Leader in the state, gave the commendation while speaking during an emergency stakeholders and general members’ meeting at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the emergency meeting was organised by the APC leadership in the state to appreciate stakeholders for their unflinching loyalty and support to the party ahead of the scheduled primary and general elections.
Abubakar-Gunabi said: “We are indeed grateful to the leadership of our great party in Kebbi State, for finding women worthy of two delegate slots, out of five from each local government, and another two slots for women out of the five state delegates.
“I must confess, this is a demonstration of commitment to success in the forthcoming elections.”
The Chairman, APC in Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, expressed profound appreciation to all the 225 ward Chairmen and other executive members, as well as all supporters of the party for their unwavering loyalty and support to the party as it worked towards APC’s success in upcoming primary and general elections.
The visibly excited Kana-Zuru, said the support demonstrated by the party leaders and members of APC in the state, had further strengthened the unity within the party at all strata, which according to him, will culminate into a successful emergence of the party’s flag-bearers for the 2023 General Elections.
“’I find it very important to gather you here and thank you for your support and sacrifices for the successes of our activities. Particularly our activities of today (Monday), and Insha Allah, it will continue the next day successfully.
“We are very sorry for the short notice to bring you here , but I could not wait till another day to offer my sincere appreciation”, he averred,” he said.
He assured the gathering that APC was on course to victory in the polls, and thanked Gov. Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu for his leadership style which had kept the party united.
NAN reports that speakers at the event all expressed delight and appreciation to the party executives and members for their cooperation, understanding and support for the APC at all levels.
Speakers at the meeting included; Alhaji Sani Zamarke, APC Chairman, Arewa Local Government and (Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Chairman of APC, Alhaji Aminu Sarkin Fada, who spoke on behalf of the 21 local government area (LGAs”) chairmen.
Others were; Alhaji Hassan Muhammad-Shalla, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who spoke on behalf of all commissioners in the state, and Rep. Shehu Muhammad (APC), member representing KoKo/Maiyama Federal constituency.
Others were; Alhaji Sani Hukuma-Zauro, Chairman, APC Elders Forum, Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Muhammad Sani-Lolo, and the Personal Assistant to Kebbi State Governor, Alhaji Faruk Musa-Enabo and a host of other APC local government, state and national legislators, appointees and top politicians.
They prayed for more unity within the party, and successes in the 2023 General Elections.
Musa-Enabo, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, the APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, and Atiku-Bagudu for giving the party a sense of direction, unity and purposeful leadership. (NAN)
