LONDON(Sundiata Post) – Chelsea has officially confirmed the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City. The 25-year-old midfielder joins the Blues on a £30 million deal, with a contract extending until June 2030. Chelsea’s young talent Michael Golding is set to move to Leicester City in a separate £5 million deal.
Dewsbury-Hall’s journey in professional football has been remarkable. Joining Leicester City’s youth academy at the tender age of eight, he rose through the ranks to make 128 appearances for the Foxes.
His influence was absolutely vital in helping Leicester City return to the Premier League. During his tenure, he not only showcased his skills but also earned accolades, including the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards.
Expressing his excitement about the move, Dewsbury-Hall shared his sentiments during his unveiling. “It is amazing to be sitting here as a Chelsea player,” he said. “This is a club people grow up watching and hoping to one day play for, so it is a privilege to be here. I’m really excited to get going and can’t wait to show everybody what I can do.”
The midfielder’s confidence and motivation were evident as he discussed his ambitions for the upcoming season. “Full of confidence [heading into this season], full of motivation to get going and I don’t see a better fit than coming to Chelsea and testing that against some top players and playing with top players.”
Dewsbury-Hall emphasized his relentless drive for self-improvement. “My mentality is just wanting to improve every day for myself. I’m never going to be the sort of player just to sit and rest on my laurels and think I’ve achieved certain things. I always want to be challenging myself for new things…”
The new Chelsea signing also expressed high regard for the current manager, Enzo Maresca, highlighting the impact Maresca had during his time at Leicester. “Look he’s fantastic, he’s top. He completely changed the way Leicester wanted to play last season and you’ve seen that it worked. And I personally fell in love with the way he wanted to play and I know a lot of other lads did too.”
Dewsbury-Hall is optimistic about Maresca’s influence at Chelsea. “I’m very very confident that coming here he’s going to implement his style and the lads are going to buy into it and really enjoy it. When that happens, it’s going to be really good for the football club.”
Describing Maresca’s unique managerial style, he added, “He’s a very unique character, he’s relentless and determined but he’s also got that nice, gentle side about him if he wants to talk to you as a human being. So a great person to have and he’s going to be really good here.”
